We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team at 5709. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, with a focus on general ledger reconciliation, account analysis, and financial management.

- Utilizes accounting system, billing system, and spreadsheet software.
- Review and process reimbursements.
- Performs various account analyses and reconciliations.
- Reconciles the general operating account and payroll bank statements and enters the cash journals into the General Ledger.
- Uses statistical, financial principles and techniques to prepare reports.
- Prepares various financial documents for compliance with regulations.
- Verifies all billing is complete and reconciled to the general ledger.
- Monitors and submits for mailing all financial documents required by creditors.
- Maintains records retention log to facilitate the orderly file system of records for adherence to the record retention policy.
- Assists with the month-end closing process, conducts research, and makes correction journal entries for account discrepancies.
- Prepares closing journal entries, posts accrual entries and prepares financial statements.
- Assists Controller in the compilation of confidential reports.
- Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned within scope of work.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; plus at least, two or more years of accounting experience.
- Proven experience in general ledger reconciliation and account analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices.
- Familiarity with GAAP regulations and standards is essential.
- Proven track record of good communication and accounting skills

- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Hands-on experience with accounting software like Sage, SAP, Net Suite
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
