Bonded Logistics Receives Alcohol Permit for Warehousing, Packaging

CHARLOTTE, NC (March 8, 2024) – Bonded Logistics, a leading provider of third-party logistics (3PL) solutions, has met the requirements and received an ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) Permit for three of its facilities in Charlotte, North Carolina. The ABC Permit, granted by the state of North Carolina, allows the company to work with various alcoholic beverages, wines and spirituous liquor to be packaged, repackaged, stored and shipped out of these locations.

“We are excited to receive our ABC Permits, which represents a significant step forward in our logistics service offerings,” began Scott Carr, President and Owner of Bonded Logistics. “This move will expand operation capabilities for all three of our divisions and continues to meet the ever-evolving needs of our clients and their customers.”

Bonded Logistics successfully went through a variety of inspections required to meet code before submitting their application to the state of North Carolina’s ABC Board. Bonded has received their temporary permits for three AIB-certified locations to begin receiving, packaging, storing and shipping operations. A permanent permit will be issued upon final inspections once initial operations meet all criteria.

Obtaining this ABC Permit allows Bonded to offer an array of warehousing and contract packaging services for businesses in alcohol, wines and spirits. This includes anything from variety and multi-packs, labeling, registered film wrapping and cartoning, to warehouse storage, distribution and fulfillment. When you combine these with our transportation brokerage services, Bonded becomes a single-source supply chain solution.

“The acquiring of this ABC Permit not only demonstrates our commitment to growth, but also highlights our dedication to providing a comprehensive experience for companies in the alcohol industry,” said Jon Hayward, Vice President, Bonded Pac. “We’re excited to now offer several variety pack formats, rework, and other value-added services to a new host of clients. The added benefit of having warehousing and distribution services under one roof, makes this a win-win.”

Time Is Right For a Truckload Rate Review

By Sean Ryan, Director of Transportation

There have been a lot of articles lately on the downward spiral of truckload rates across the country. A recent article from FreightWaves titled Spot Markets Are Flattening, stated that Outbound Tender Volume Index, which measures national freight demand by shippers’ request for capacity, had fallen 2.1%.  Another article from The LoadStar titled Tough Year Ahead as Economic Headwinds slow US truckload operators, stated the latest Cass Freight Index showed a 3.9% year-on-year decline in shipments.

Pretty much all of these articles offer several reasons why this decline is taking place, whether that’s excess capacity, softening demand, inflation, or a looming recession.  But what this ultimately means for shippers is potential cost savings.  If you aren’t already doing a review to make sure you are getting the best rates available, the time is right to make that happen.

I know for some shippers this is going to be hard because you go through RFPs or are in a contract and the rates have already been set. But for those in the spot market, where many of our clients sit, now is a good time to review your truckload rates, confirm you are getting quality carriers and make sure you are getting quality service.

Truckload rate decline graph

For anyone dealing with a brokerage firm like us, this is a pretty easy process. The simplest thing to do is just reach out and ask for an audit of what is currently being shipped to see if there have been any changes. Unfortunately, we have seen a significant amount of layoffs at the larger firms that may have been on the heavy side with staff. If you feel you’ve been left without someone that can assist you, or are being passed around, you may not be getting the service and therefore the best rates.

For anyone shipping freight on their own or dealing directly with a carrier, this can be a little more difficult as you might not have the availability to shop around for better rates. There are different paid services where you could probably do a rate check, but that can be expensive and often time-consuming

We have a little advantage here at Bonded because we are able to see freight happening all across our network. What’s amazing is that we still see freight getting left on the dock because clients opt for the lowest provider and loads don’t get taken care of.  We use reliable sources to be able to get the best rates and work with the right people so that this type of thing doesn’t happen, whether that’s freight coming into Bonded or anywhere else our clients need it to go.

There are other factors to take into consideration when looking at current rates, such as whether the carrier does a great job, picks up on time, delivers on time, has clean bills, or never has any problems.  But in my opinion, the time is still right to do that review to make sure you’ve got the best rates on the truckload lanes.  And if you still think you might not be getting the best rate, it might be time to reach out and get a second opinion.

To the Next 50 Years

A message of reflection and vision to the employees of Bonded Logistics from Scott Carr, President and Co-owner.

How humbling it was to be able to celebrate 50 years in business in 2022! Barbara and I would like to Honor our parents, Jim and Robin Carr, for their taking that start-up risk and to persevere, especially in those early years.

Jim, our father, began this journey in 1972 as he arranged to purchase an existing warehousing business, Terminal Bonded Warehouse, that operated a two-story refrigerated facility totaling 30K sq ft. Shortly after opening Bonded, Dad realized he needed help, and that’s when Robin, our Mom, came along side Dad. She had little to no training at the time, but excelled and helped him build, operate, and grow Bonded over many years, pushing the operation with a can-do attitude to properly service each and every client.

Most of our family members have had the opportunity to work in the business over these many years, at one time or another. We want to remember Mom and Dad for their vision and hard work, but we also want to remember our brother Jim and sister Kathy, who are also no longer with us. They both left a positive mark with contributions to the success of Bonded in the beginning and over the years. We miss them all greatly.

We are blessed, and it is through God’s grace and the dedication of so many, that we were able to even celebrate 50 years in business.  It truly is a testimony to the hard work of all the fantastic people and team members we’ve been able to work with.  It has been with their help that we have hopefully created a family environment to work in along the way.

Through a lot of trials and difficulties, Bonded has persevered and weathered many storms.  It would not have been possible without the sacrifice and dedication of many team members and what they have done over these many years. They have truly become our Bonded family. They helped us to not only get through the challenging times, but to grow and thrive.

My hope and prayer is that we continue to carry this legacy as we plan to grow in the future. But before we discuss that, let’s briefly look back at 2022.

The year was very busy with change at all facilities and divisions. We saw quite a few long-term team members retire, but have been blessed to hire a lot of very capable and talented folks to continue the growth for many years to come.

Bonded had a better year financially as we have grown with business in each of our business units.  With warehousing, most of the buildings are full and busy, including our two newest in Concord and Greer (SC).  Our contract packaging division, Bonded Pac, worked to create new opportunities for growth with bundling and registered film, and now a new cartoning machine. Our transportation team, BTS, has worked extremely hard to grow their business with existing as well as new clients.

For 2023 and beyond, we have set some lofty goals but feel the team we have will be able to service our existing clients as well as handle the growth opportunities we see ahead.

The logistics and distribution industries seem to be ramping up for quite a bit of growth for the foreseeable future.  Bonded should be able to take advantage of these opportunities to grow.  During this time, I have asked our team to stay focused on the following five objectives…

  1. Stay true to our Core Values
  2. Focus on our clients’ needs on a daily basis
  3. Teach, train and mentor our staff
  4. Keep innovation at the forefront
  5. Embrace a One Bonded approach, where we make improvements every day by communicating and cooperating with each other

We are looking forward to the New Year and depending on every team member to contribute to our success.  Thank you so much for the hard work and dedication throughout this past year. Let’s all do what we can to make 2023 our best year yet!

Bonded Logistics Expands Footprint with 184K Sq. Ft. Warehouse in Concord, NC

NC-based 3PL adding much-needed capacity to tight third-party logistics market in the Charlotte region.

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 8, 2022) – Bonded Logistics, a leading provider of integrated third-party logistics (3PL) solutions, announces that it has expanded its footprint in the Charlotte region by opening a 184,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Concord, NC.

“Demand for outsourced warehousing continues to be extremely high in Charlotte,” states Scott Carr, President and Owner of Bonded Logistics.  “When we had the opportunity to take additional space, especially in a high growth city like Concord where we haven’t had a location in a while, we had to take advantage of it.  What makes it even more exciting is that this comes as the company celebrates 50 years in business.”

The 184K sq. ft. facility is located in Concord, NC, about 30 miles northeast of Charlotte, and is well-positioned for easy access to major highways along the East Coast. Bonded took over lease of the space in June so that its contract packaging division, Bonded Pac, could complete several major holiday retail display projects. The entire warehouse will become available starting in December and is a blank canvas that can be built out to suit specific client needs.

“This facility gives us much needed network capacity for not only our existing clients but new opportunities,” says D’Artis Jones, newly hired VP of Sales & Marketing for Bonded Logistics.  “We are seeing more and more mid to large-scale companies looking to 3PLs like Bonded to provide customized solutions for their complex supply chain problems.  Not only are we getting the typical request for distribution or manufacturing support, but we are getting asked for integrated solutions that encompass all of our divisions.”

One of Charlotte’s largest third-party logistics providers, Bonded Logistics has spent the last 50 years providing an array of warehousing, contract packaging, transportation services for businesses in industries such as consumer goods, food and beverage, manufacturing, and healthcare.  Privately owned and operated, the company prides itself on creating lasting partnerships with their clients through service excellence, teamwork, and innovation.

The opening of this latest facility takes Bonded’s total footprint to 2.3 million sq. ft. across a mix of 12 multi-client and dedicated buildings in five NC counties.

Bonded Logistics Welcomes Jerry Brown as New Vice President of Operations

Charlotte, NC-based 3PL will use industry veteran’s expertise to lead logistics operations division

CHARLOTTE, NC (May 26, 2022) – Bonded Logistics, a provider of integrated third-party logistics (3PL) solutions, announces that supply chain industry veteran Jerry Brown has joined the company as Vice President of Operations over the logistics division.

“We are pleased to welcome Jerry to the Bonded leadership team,” states Scott Carr, Co-owner and President of Bonded Logistics.  “He brings a diverse background in logistics and supply chain operations through the various positions he has held with some notable companies.  We feel confident that he will make a significant contribution to our facility network and company operations as whole.”

Brown previously served as Director of Operations at Kuehne + Nagel, Inc., where he was responsible for areas such as staffing, maintenance, service performance, and continuous improvement for the Midwest Region.  Prior to that, he held various positions managing multiple supply chain functions for companies such as Neovia Logistics, CEVA Logistics, and Exel, Inc.  Brown will report to Dave Jesse, Chief Operating Officer at Bonded Logistics.

“Jerry is a proven leader in third party logistics solutions and I am extremely pleased that he has chosen to join us,” says Jesse.  “Our warehousing division has seen continued growth in the areas of distribution, manufacturing support, and e-commerce fulfillment.  With Jerry’s diverse experience and expertise, we feel strong that trend will continue well into the future.”

The logistics division of Bonded, celebrating 50 years of service in 2022, offers customized warehousing solutions to support the supply chain needs of clients across a broad range of industries.  As VP of Operations, Brown will be responsible for operational excellence across all 10 of Bonded’s logistics facilities, including providing strategic direction on processes, reporting, improvements, and personnel.

“I am excited to lead the operations team at Bonded,” states Brown, who brings over 30 years of supply chain and operations experience to Bonded Logistics.  “My background and previous work experience has helped me understand the importance of outsourced logistics operations to meet today’s demands.  I look forward to building upon the strong foundation that Bonded has in place.”

Relaxing of COVID-19 Protocols

Our President and Owner, Scott Carr, shared the following information with our employees as the number of positive COVID-19 cases continues to decrease in geographic areas around our network.

Earlier this month, The Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to end indoor mask requirements for businesses on February 26, 2022. A few days later, NC Governor Roy Cooper released a statement encouraging schools and local governments to end their indoor mask mandates as COVID-19 metrics continue to move in the right direction.

With this information in mind, we have made the decision to remove the indoor mask requirement across our entire facility network beginning Monday, February 28, 2022. At this time, we will also discontinue temperature screenings upon entrance into buildings.

Employees and visitors will still have the option to wear a mask at their discretion moving forward. I would encourage everyone to be mindful of others as this transition could be hard for some as the threat of COVID-19 is still out there.

As a company, we will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases across the company and fully expect employees to continue to make HR aware of a positive test result. If case counts increase to unprecedented levels again, we will keep the option open to reinstate these COVID-19 protocols for the safety of our employees.

Bonded Logistics Celebrates 50th Anniversary Milestone in February

Charlotte, NC-based 3PL commemorates golden anniversary with events, advertising, and across digital platforms

Supply chain solutions provider Bonded Logistics announces that the company has reached the 50th
Anniversary milestone. It celebrated the momentous occasion on February 1st with festivities across its facility
network, and has big plans to commemorate the golden anniversary throughout the year.

“It is very humbling to realize that we have been in business for 50 years,” states Scott Carr, President of
Bonded Logistics and second-generation co-owner of the company. “I have to give a lot of the credit to my
father and mother who had the foresight to start the company in the first place. They set the standard with how
it should be run, how we treated our people, and the dedication we needed to show to our clients. As we have
built on that foundation, we’ve seen substantial growth over the past 20 years, more than doubled our locations,
and more than tripled our footprint.”

Bonded Logistics - 50th Anniverary Logo

Founded by Jim and Robin Carr, the company began as Bonded Distribution after the couple purchased Terminal Bonded Warehouse in Charlotte, NC in 1972. What started out with one building and five employees providing outsourced warehousing services along the East Coast quickly turned into multiple locations with over 100 employees and a coast-to-coast reach. Scott Carr and Barbara (Carr) Woodall, who had both worked at the company since the early days alongside their parents, took over ownership in 2001 and renamed the company Bonded Logistics to better reflect the addition of contract packaging and transportation divisions.

“This company wouldn’t be where it is today without the foundation our parents built,” says Woodall,
Executive Vice President of Bonded Logistics. “Even after they retired, they continued to offer advice on how
my brother and I ran the business. And there have been so many great employees, both past and present, that
have significantly influenced the company. Our employee’s dedication and commitment to helping make sure
Bonded stayed true to its core values and golden rule principle have made huge impacts. Without those team
members this milestone would not be possible, so we thank them for all that they have done.”

Today, Bonded Logistics operates 10 buildings and 2.4 million sq. ft. of space in the Charlotte region with over
300 employees. It focuses on providing customized supply chain solutions for global brands across a wide
variety of industries such as food and beverage, manufacturing, healthcare, and consumer goods products. The
mission remains the same as when the company was established, to create lasting partnerships with clients
through service excellence, teamwork, and innovation.

“The company has a lot to look forward to as we celebrate our golden anniversary,” adds Scott Carr. “All three
divisions finished off 2021 with a lot of momentum and those trends look to continue. The concept of becoming
a single-source supply chain solution for our clients continues to be a main focus for the entire business. We
also want to continue to make a positive impact on the people that come to work here every day. Whether that’s
instilling our company core values or through our inreach and outreach initiatives, we are blessed to have an
opportunity to make a difference.”

Bonded Logistics plans to commemorate its 50th Anniversary throughout 2022 on their digital platforms, with
several events, and through advertising. To join in the celebration, visit http://www.bondedlogistics.com or
follow the company across its social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Reinstatement of COVID-19 Mask Requirement

Our President and Owner, Scott Carr, shared the following information with our employees as the number of positive COVID-19 cases continues to rise in geographic areas around our network.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen a tremendous increase in positive COVID-19 cases in geographic areas around our warehouse network.  The delta variant is highly contagious, and cases of COVID-19 are on the rise again.

During the last year, we were very successful in keeping our employees safe as a result of weekly sanitizing routines in our buildings, the use of hand sanitizers, temperature screenings, and the requirement of employees and visitors to wear masks in our buildings.

It is extremely important that we continue to keep our employees safe while working at our facilities, and masks are one of the best ways that we can do this.  With that said, we are reinstating our mask requirement for employees at all facilities on Friday, August 13, 2021.

This mask requirement will not only be mandatory for employees and temporary workers, but for anyone entering our facilities.  Each facility will be receiving an allotment of masks, but if you need more please contact Brenda Settles and Barbara Woodall.

COVID-19 Mask Policy Update

Our President and Owner, Scott Carr, shared the following information with our employees as a follow-up to the May announcement from the NC Governor lifting mask mandates and social distancing.

Since the NC Governor followed CDC guidelines and lifted masks mandates on May 13th, we have been closely following the number of positive COVID-19 cases across the state as well as across our facility network.  Over a month later, we are happy to report that cases continue to stay at record lows in both areas.

HR has also been successfully collecting COVID-19 vaccination cards to help us get an idea of our vaccinated workforce and better understand how we can maintain a safe working environment for both vaccinated and unvaccinated employees.

If these trends continue in the right direction, we are prepared to update our mask use policy on July 1st, 2021 to allow for fully vaccinated employees to not wear masks while working (unless otherwise required by a client).  Unvaccinated employees must still adhere to our COVID-19 protocols, including wearing a mask while working.

All visitors and temporary workers will be asked to continue to follow COVID-19 protocols unless they voluntarily provide HR with vaccination information.

Bonded Logistics Maintains ISO Certification, Adds Facility to Certificate

Quality management systems audit by MCNA verifies 3PL provider’s compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Standard

CHARLOTTE, NC (May 28, 2021) – Bonded Logistics, a quality-driven third-party logistics (3PL) provider headquartered in Charlotte, NC, announces that the company has successfully completed their ISO 9001:2015 surveillance audit for the 2021 calendar year.  This audit was completed by Management Certification of North America (MCNA), and includes a recommendation to add one facility to Bonded’s certificate.

“This past year has been incredibly difficult due to the pandemic, but we maintained our commitment to ISO,” states Scott Carr, President of Bonded Logistics.  “It was a unique set of circumstances to have to do this differently than we have done in the past, but our employees came through like they always do. I want to thank everyone that participated for another successful audit.  Congratulations also to the team at 7300 on achieving ISO certification.”

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is iso-9001-2015-logo.png

The International Organization for Standards (ISO) provides guidance and tools across various aspects of quality management to help companies like Bonded Logistics be more efficient and effective.  The audit, which took place virtually in April of 2021, covered four days and included interviews with over 25 employees across multiple business units.  The MCNA auditor reviewed criteria around the 9001:2015 Standard, which emphasizes risk management and making sure organizations like Bonded Logistics understand the scope of what they do for clients as well as how to identify and reduce associated risks.

“This audit went extremely well, especially under the circumstances surrounding things being virtual,” states Wallace Everett, who leads the ISO efforts as Quality Administrator/Project Manager for Bonded Logistics.  “Having never done something like this before, everything was very thorough.  I thought all of our people did an outstanding job at presenting their information in a fashion that the auditor could receive it, understand it, and honestly evaluate how we are doing as an organization.”

In addition to the surveillance audit, the MCNA auditor recommended that one additional facility that Bonded had been preparing for ISO certification.  This location, a 115,295 sq. ft. dedicated distribution facility located in Charlotte, NC, opened in 2019 and has been working toward certification since opening.

“I am extremely proud of everyone at 7300 and how they presented themselves,” adds Everett.  “The leadership there are veterans when it comes to operating ISO certified facilities.  They adopted the ISO principles from the beginning when we opened the building, and they were extremely prepared with all their documentation and during the interview process.”

The addition of Facility 7300 to Bonded’s ISO 9001:2015 certificate means that 11 of 12 locations across their network as well as all three divisions – warehousing, contract packaging, and transportation brokerage – now meet this standard.

COVID-19 Protocols Update

Our President and Owner, Scott Carr, shared the following information with our employees in regards to the announcement last week from the NC Governor on lifting mask mandates and social distancing.

NC Governor Roy Cooper has announced that he is following advice from the CDC and lifting mask mandates, social distancing and capacity limits effective immediately.  This is due to the increasing number of COVID-19 vaccinations across our state and around the country.

Although we are excited to hear about this announcement, we are not yet ready to make any decisions in regards to our COVID-19 protocols.  Employee safety continues to be a top priority and we need to make sure our operations are safe for everyone.  As an essential services provider, our services provide a recognized need for others and we can’t risk any disruptions.

Please continue to adhere to the following COVID-19 protocols…

  • Temperature screenings upon entrance into facilities
  • Mandatory face masks and gloves (where necessary) on the warehouse floor
  • Regular washing/sanitizing of hands
  • Frequent cleaning of workstations and any shared equipment
  • Maintain social distancing (six feet of distance)

Over the next few weeks, the COVID-19 Taskforce will further review the new guidance from the NC Governor and the CDC and make decisions about next steps for Bonded and our employees.  Until then, we appreciate your patience as we work our way out of this pandemic.

COVID-19 Vaccination Documentation

Our Director of Human Resources, Brenda Settles, has released the following memo announcing that we will start collecting COVID-19 vaccination documentation from employees beginning May 1, 2021.  This is for information purposes to help us make future operational decisions and understand how to maintain a safe working environment.

The administration of the COVID-19 vaccine is well underway in North Carolina.  Positive test results continue to decline, and the NC Governor believes that as vaccinations continue we can begin the process of returning to normal life.

As a company, it is important for us to know if employees working at our locations are getting fully vaccinated.  This not only helps us make better operational decisions for future planning, but also allows us to better handle contact tracing and quarantine situations that may occur.

Beginning May 1st, we will start collecting proof of fully vaccinated COVID-19 documentation from employees across our entire network.  We will need a copy of both the front and back of the vaccination card sent to the HR Department for confirmation.

Here are the four ways this can be accomplished…

  1. Email photos of card to Brenda Settles at settles@bondedlogistics.com
  2. Text photos of card to Brenda Settles at 704-619-1873
  3. Send in copies of card via inter-office mail. Facility Mangers have manila envelopes available and can address to Brenda Settles
  4. Stop by the HR Department, give them your card and they will make copies

It is important to understand that proof of COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory to work at Bonded Logistics.  We are collecting this for information purposes and to better understand how we can maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

The Many Benefits of Single-source Logistics

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Jan-McCormick-Jr-3-861x1024.jpg

By Jan McCormick Jr., Director of Marketing and Communications

As a 3PL provider that offers end-to-end supply chain solutions, we get asked a lot to provide single-source logistics.  In simplest terms, single-source logistics is having one company handle all of your supply chain needs and provide a solution for anything that might come up.  This includes warehousing, packaging, and transportation services, or could even breakdown deeper into specific services like e-commerce fulfillment, kitting and variety packs, or white glove delivery services.

The alternative to single-source logistics would be to have different providers handling each of these services separately, say one for warehousing, another for packaging, and even another for transportation.  You could even have one for storage, another for fulfillment, another for variety packs, another for truckload, and yet another for small parcel.  I think you get the idea!

I sat down with an executive in each of our divisions to get their perspective on how being a single-source logistics provider helps them as well as the clients they serve.  Here’s what they had to say.

Warehousing Perspective – Sean Kelley, VP of Business Development at Bonded Logistics

“What’s nice about being a single-source logistics provider is that we have everything together under one roof.  It’s a seamless operation, allowing clients more time to focus on their core business because they don’t have to spend as much time dealing with different companies that handle different services for them.

“Having contract packaging and transportation services internally is a big selling point for me.  Clients that we bring on from a warehousing perspective are almost always looking for some kind of transportation assistance, especially on the front-end.  And when we find out a client has a need for repackaging or rework, it comes in handy that we have a dedicated contract packaging group that handles those types of projects.

“Another nice thing about having these services at our disposal, it brings diverse leadership and expertise to the table that ultimately will help to improve our client’s supply chain.”

Contract Packaging Perspective – Jon Hayward, VP of Bonded Pac

“There are many benefits to being a single-source logistics source for our clients.  One that immediately comes to mind is our ability to look at the bigger picture and address growth concerns when we can see what’s going on across the entire supply chain.  This allows us to spot inefficiencies or potential issues and get ahead of them to minimize any risk.

“Another is special projects like rework and testing.  These are a fact of life in the warehousing world, and some are large and complex.  Having a contract packaging group like Bonded Pac that’s part of the overall business allows us to do this type of work in-house.  It’s much easier to coordinate than if you’d have to outsource that to another provider.

“Ultimately, our job is to make the logistics process seem seamless for the client.  There needs to be synergies between our divisions and our clients expect to see this.  Communication is probably the biggest piece of this, and we make sure that we are communicating with other divisions on an ongoing basis.  If we have issues, it’s much easier to communicate internally than if we were having to deal with different outside groups.”

Transportation Perspective – Sean Ryan, Director of Bonded Transportation

“I think our clients really see us as a turnkey option when it comes to single-source logistics solutions. A lot of times they don’t have the capacity to be able to deal with these things, so relying on us to work as one and quickly spot redundancies.  This helps their supply chain become more efficient by cutting out any excess waste.  This is much harder to realize when you have multiple providers working independently of each other.

“From a transportation perspective, we provide a nice add-on service that makes it easier and smoother when it comes to bringing in loads for the warehousing and packaging divisions.  This may be when a new client comes on, or if they are in a jam and in need of assistance.  At any time, we are just a phone call away and they know exactly who they need to speak with.

Another area where this helps is when we have set-up dedicated runs from our facilities to the client or their customers.  There is so much communication that needs to take place to make these seamless, and it makes things way easier when you know who you are working with and can easily get them on the phone to talk through an issue or make them aware of delays.”

Bonded Logistics Workers Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccination

Our President and Owner, Scott Carr, shared the following information with our employees in regards to the announcement this week from the NC Governor on additional frontline essential workers becoming eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination.

Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) Secretary Mandy Cohen announced that additional frontline essential workers in Group 3 have become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccinations beginning yesterday, March 3, 2021.  This is a week ahead of schedule, and great news for Bonded Logistics.

We have been operating as a designated essential services provider throughout the coronavirus pandemic.  This announcement means anyone working at facilities across our network now have the ability to schedule an appointment to get your COVID-19 vaccination.  There are several ways to do this, outlined below.  We have not heard if you need any documentation for proof of work, but do we have our BLI essential worker travel authorization form available (your FM will have this if you don’t).

In order to not have a major disruption in the workflow of our business, we do ask that you please let your Supervisor or Manager know when you plan to get the COVID-19 vaccination.  This will give them the ability to make any adjustments necessary to maintain normal operations.

Also, even with vaccinations beginning to take place within our network, we will continue to follow our COVID-19 protocols for the safety of all employees.  This includes temperature screening upon entrance into facilities, wearing a mask, staying six feet apart, and washing your hands as often as possible.

Gov. Cooper Announces Frontline Essential Workers Eligible for Vaccination Beginning March 3

Group 4 vaccinations to begin March 24 for people who have a medical condition that puts them at higher risk or who live in certain congregate settings

Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, M.D. announced that additional frontline essential workers in Group 3 will be eligible for vaccinations beginning tomorrow, March 3. The expedited timeline follows the approval of the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine and an expected increase in vaccine supply to North Carolina.

“The state and our providers continue to work extremely hard to get people vaccinated in a way that’s fast and fair,” said Gov. Cooper. “The third vaccine and improving vaccine supply will help us get more people vaccinated more quickly. Our essential frontline workers have remained on the job throughout this pandemic and I am grateful for their work.”
